What a great speech, Sukumar. Every piece of advice is worth a million $$$$. Why is it the most obvious and simplest things are hardest to follow 🙂

Yeah. Amazing speech. Perhaps you can liken it to exercise – everyone knows it is a good thing, but a lot of people don’t do it.

Excellent Sukumar. I am lucky to come across your blog. (though not a substitute for reading lots of books, it is closest to coming across ‘pearls of wisdom and thought’ in my otherwise dull architect life).
Sometimes when I see American companies firing their domain experts, I pity them for lack of strategy. They are firing away loads of institutional knowledge that is cognitive and never could be replaced. Instead I think they should retain true subject matter experts, challenge them to come out of their shells and contribute to the bottomline. nyway who has time here…

Thanks for the kind words Vamsi. Yes, letting go of subject matter experts without figuring out how to move them to strategic initiatives is a flawed model. To be fair, some American companies do a very good job of this. And here I’m mainly talking about IT SMEs. If we consider business side SMEs also, don’t know how the picture changes.
